Sustainability,Green and Eco

Assalamualaikum

ok actually entry ni aku dah tulis tapi entah nape tiba2 kuar bnda merepk bila aku preview..whatever..yg penting aku nak cerita jugak ape motif aku ni..hehe...ape dia? ok kan sebelum ni aku nak cerita pasal ape yg aku dah belajar dalam kelas design kan kan..ok..nak citer ni..

ia sgt berbeza berbanding masa diploma sbb Lecturer2 byk menekankan konsep baru iaitu

"GREEN, SUSTAINABILITY and ECO"

sem ni aku belajar utk lebih menerapkan apa yg aku belajr dlm kelas Building construction dan Environmental and Sources dulu dan tambah dgn kelas baru yg namanya ialah Building Technology..

apakah Sustainablity???

Sustainability is the capacity to endure. For humans, sustainability is the long-term maintenance of responsibility, which has environmental, economic, and social dimensions, and encompasses the concept of stewardship, the responsible management of resource use. 

In ecology, sustainability describes how biological systems remain diverse and productive over time, a necessary precondition for human well-being. Long-lived and healthy wetlands and forests are examples of sustainable biological systems.

dalam kefahaman aku pulak...sustainability adalah teknik yg digunakan utk membuat sesuatu bangunan itu lebih sistematik,mesra alam,tahan lama dan ekonomi. contohnya penggunaan Solar Panel or Photovoltaic Panel di rumah2 boleh menjimatkan penggunaan tenaga elektrik,menjimatkan kos perbelanjaan serta mesra alam.
Green dan eco ni lak lebih kurang jek,konsepnya sama la iaitu mesra alam..menggunakan 3R prinsip iaitu:

Recycle : menngunakan brg2 yg blh recycle blk cth aluminium,woods,brick etc
Renewable: membarukan kembali brg yg x blh dipakai
Reuse:guna kembali


tapi actually ada lagi satu iaitu Innovation..haa ni dah masuk dalam sustainability...cthnye penggunaan dlm pengetahuan nanotechnology byk la membantu cthnya penggunaan Aero gel iaitu the thinnest solid in the world,even paling nipis tapi ia sgt kuat di mane ia blh menampung berat yg 20x ganda lebih berat dari dirinya sndri..biasanya diguna kan sbg building envelope or building insulation...

ok2 ni nak bg tau kenapa kan kita sbgai designer kene balajar benda2 ni? ini adalah sbb kita kene ada kesedaran terhadap environment dunia yg makin kritikal akibat kesan pembangunan waktu zaman Industrial Revolution dulu..so sbb nak bertanggungjawab la kan atas kesan yg dah dibawa oleh nenek2 moyang designer dan arkitek dulu yg lbh mementingkan eksploitasi ni,so kita sbg generasi baru kene memikirkan langkah utk memelihara dan juga memulihara alam kita ni..kemajuan memang la harus ditekankan tetapi alam sekitar x boleh dilupakan...Konsep Green Building

Green buildings are designed to save energy and resources, recycle materials and minimise the emission of toxic substances throughout its life cycle.
Green buildings harmonise with the local climate, traditions, culture and the surrounding environment.
Green buildings are able to sustain and improve the quality of human life whilst maintaining the capacity of the ecosystem at local and global levels.
Green buildings make efficient use of resources, have significant operational savings and increases workplace productivity.
Building green sends the right message about a company or organisation – that it is well run, responsible, and committed to the future.

so sem ni agak mencabar la sbb bukan lagi mementingkan sekadar construction dan aesthetic value shj,tapi juga memetingkan sustainability bangunan tu dan kesannya pada environment...

kat Malaysia ni juga dah ada satu badan yg nak memberi kesedaran dan juga mengawal la arkitek2 kat negara ni supaya x buat building yg blh mencemarkan alam sekitar..badan tersebut ialah Green Building Index(GBI)..kalau dekat US dipanggil LEED(x ingt nama panjangnye)
ok tugas GBI ni adalah memeberi rating kepada bangunan2 yg menepati 6 Konsep dan Prinsip GBI iaitu :

1) Energy Efficiency (EE)
Improve energy consumption by optimising building orientation, minimizing solar heat gain through the building envelope, harvesting natural lighting, adopting the best practices in building services including use of renewable energy, and ensuring proper testing, commissioning and regular maintenance.

2) Indoor Environment Quality (EQ)
Achieve good quality performance in indoor air quality, acoustics, visual and thermal comfort. These will involve the use of low volatile organic compound materials, application of quality air filtration, proper control of air temperature, movement and humidity.

3) Sustainable Site Planning & Management (SM)
Selecting appropriate sites with planned access to public transportation, community services, open spaces and landscaping. Avoiding and conserving environmentally sensitive areas through the redevelopment of existing sites and brownfields. Implementing proper construction management, storm water management and reducing the strain on existing infrastructure capacity.


4) Materials & Resources (MR)
Promote the use of environment-friendly materials sourced from sustainable sources and recycling. Implement proper construction waste management with storage, collection and re-use of recyclables and construction formwork and waste.

5) Water Efficiency (WE)
Rainwater harvesting, water recycling and water-saving fittings.

6) Innovation (IN)
Innovative design and initiatives that meet the objectives of the GBI.
